Context: Exploring Product Presentation Through Visual Direction
Drink started as a product visualization exercise — a beverage can treated through creative direction rather than mere technical reproduction. The project investigates:
- How to present an everyday object with visual intention.
- The role of color and contrast in product perception.
- The relationship between environment, movement, and viewer attention.
No client, no brief. The goal is to apply visual direction criteria to a free product scenario.
Approach: Color, Contrast, and Conceptual Staging
The piece is built on three deliberate decisions:
- A custom color palette with bold tones and high contrast between product and background.
- A flat, fictional environment with geometric shapes that accompany the product without competing with it.
- A journey: the can isn't static — it travels through the scene, generating rhythm and visual direction.
The aim is for the product to catch the eye before the information does.
Technical Development: Modeling, Texturing, and Full Look
The project covers the entire 3D product pipeline:
- Can modeled from scratch.
- Realistic material texturing (metal, printed graphics, finishes).
- Lighting and look development focused on highlighting volume and color.
- Camera and product animation integrated with Pere Joan Company's sound design.
Built in Cinema 4D and rendered with Redshift.
Result: Attractive Product with Full Visual Coherence
The final piece demonstrates:
- Control of the entire process, from modeling to final render.
- The ability to create a visually striking, distinctive look for a product.
- Integration of visual direction, motion, and sound into a cohesive piece.
- That product visualization can go beyond catalogue photography.
Strategic Application: R&D Applicable to Client Work
Projects like this enable:
- Mastery of the full 3D product visualization pipeline.
- Development of color direction and compositional criteria.
- Showing a potential client what their product could look like with this approach.
- Exploration of techniques free from commercial brief constraints.
Personal exploration becomes a direct demonstration of applicable capability.
